Cheers to Small Beginnings
I have wanted to start writing for some time now, but I have been postponding it. Partly because I’m a full-time student and “not having the time” has been an easy excuse. But mostly because I didn’t know exactly where to start, what to write about and how to write about it.
This morning I lisend to an episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast called “How to Design Your Life in 1 Hour”. In the episode the two Standford professors Bill Burnett and Dave Evans talk about how you can design your life to make it more meaningful. One of the things they shared is this exercise where you take 12 minutes to awnser the three following questions:
Where are you in 5 years if everything works out well?
What is your plan b, if your plan a is not working out?
Wildcard: if money and peoples opinions is not an obsticle, what would you do?
This made me think.
Burnett and Evans also brought up that when people are asked how many lives they want to live, the average answer is seven.
This stuck with me.
Because I don’t have seven lives, I have one.
I have always been drawn to cultural and creative industries and working within this area is one of my “other lives” or “wildcards”.
Therefore I’m following a tip that the two professors gave in the podcast: if you want to pursue your wildcard, start small. It is a new area and you don’t really know if you enjoy it before you explore it on a deeper level.
That is what this is. This is my first little step. This is me setting aside time to explore something I’m curious about. A space to explore the cultural and creative industries form a non-professional perspective. I want to share my thougts on movies I have watched, books I have read, marketing campaigns I find clever, and artwork I find mesmerizing.
This will simply be my thoughts, opinions and reflections. No expert analysis, just honest engagement.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I truly apperciate any feedback, thoughts and recommendations.
